Quinoa is the only plant food that contains all the essential amino acids, trace elements and vitamins and contains no gluten. Essential amino acids are found in the nucleus of the grain, unlike other cereals, like rice or wheat, in which they are located in their exosperm or hull.

The unique benefits of quinoa are related to its high nutritional value. Due to the high content of essential amino acids in its protein, quinoa is considered the only plant food that provides all essential amino acids, which are extremely close to human nutrition standards established by the FAO.

A key feature of quinoa is that the grain, leaves and inflorescences are all sources of high quality protein. The nutritional quality of the grain is important due to its protein content and quality. Quinoa is rich in lysine and the sulfur amino acids, while cereal proteins are deficient in these amino acids.

The year 2013 has been declared “The International Year of the Quinoa” (IYQ), recognizing the Andean indigenous peoples, who have maintained, controlled, protected and preserved quinoa as food for present and future generations thanks to their traditional knowledge and practices of living well in harmony with mother earth and nature.

Quinoa is recognized and accepted around the world as a natural food resource with high nutritive value of Andean origin becoming a high quality food for health and food security, for present and future generations.

In our small producing community are farmers currently located in the departments of Cundinamarca, Boyaca, Nariño and Putumayo over 2200 meters high in the Andes, they receive social and agro-ecological support in their crops to grow Quinoa (soil and water protected). Each signed a Fair Trade agreement with Factoria Quinoa where they can obtain on average a return of 40% to 100% for semi-annual crop cultivation of Quinoa. Farmers are aware that the Fair Trade Quinoa means the best deal for their pocket, water and soil, as well as for the health of themselves and consumers.

Our Family seeks not only an agent in our value chain; we seek an ally HEART who really wants to be part of our mission. So let us explain four pillars that characterize our Factoria Quinoa Family.

Nutrition and Health: We work towards improving nutrition and health in our consuming community. According to FAO: Quinoa is considered the only plan food that provides all essential amino acids, which are extremely close to human nutrition standards.

Fair Trade: We act ethically and responsibly, aligning each of our decisions with our mission to maximize the benefits for all who are part of our fair trade chain. We retribute the effort made by the producing community, value and respect each one of our cooperators, we offer the best selling business to our distributors and work to achieve a fair price for the largest possible number of consumers that can benefit from our products.

Ecology and Sustainability: quinoa crops do not need pesticides or chemical fertilizers, and improve soil and water quality; In addition, they are excellent oxygen releasers into the atmosphere.

Innovation: In our family, we worry constantly to develop the best products with the most added value possible to our consuming community, which is why Factoria Quinoa has developed Quinoasure® which has increased from 68% to 82% the percentage of proteins absorption, compared with quinoa grain or its products.
